Film Brief #14

While my opening is a zombie film, the inspiration for it did not come from any zombie movie or even any horror movie. My main inspiration for the film was The Martian, specifically the scenes in which the main character logs his experiences while stranded on the ship. These scenes were my favorite part of the film, as I thought that they strengthened the connection between the audience and the character since it felt as though the character was speaking to the audience directly, and they also helped inject humor into the movie, which dealt with the bleak topic of isolation. My film plays on similar themes, although through the very different lens of a zombie apocalypse setting, and I feel like a video log format would work so well for a zombie film in order to immerse the audience into the world and to make what is often a cliche trope feel much more real.
