Film Brief Blog Post #5 - 1/30/23

I thought I had a finalized idea of what my film opening would be, but of course I had to have a random idea at night that I'm now very tempted to do. The new idea I have is a scene between two characters, a very dialogue-heavy scene in which the characters are arguing over character A going on a talk show after his new found fame. The character is very against the idea of going, since he has a secret that he does not want to be revealed to the world - that he is a murderer. The conversation would escalate until character A kills character B, where it would be revealed that character B was never real and was a figment of character A's guilt-ridden conscience. This idea is completely out of left field, would take some serious acting chops compared to the zombie film idea, but I think could potentially be an amazing final product. I love writing, and so writing such a long and dialogue-heavy scene is very fun to do. This scene would also solve some of the issues I was considering with the zombie scene, such as the fairly difficult makeup that would be needed to make the zombie look believable and portraying that there are many zombies out in the world with very few actors.

I'm now in between the two scenes, and knowing how indecisive will most likely finish both scripts before deciding which scene to go with. The zombie scene seems like a less creative scene, though it will be easier to execute well and it could be incredibly fun to film a zombie survival opening. On the other hand, the conversation scene seems like the kind of movie I would love and could end out being a much better scene. That is only if it ends out how I envision it in my head of course, and considering I can't film and act the scene I'm worried that either the camerawork will now end out how I hope it will or the acting will not be up to par for such a challenging scene. I have no idea which scene I'm going to go with for now, but whichever one I end out choosing I have no doubt it will be very good.
