8/30 - Introduction
I really really love media, whether it be movies or music or the news or a podcast I've always been fascinated by it. One of my favorite parts of media is dissecting it and looking at the techniques, deeper meanings, and purposeful choices that creators make to add their own flair and to elevate their piece of media to something great. I even made my 8th grade literary fair project a 2500 word essay on the album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West, and it was the most fun I have ever had on an assignment and took shockingly little time for how incredibly long it was. I'd like to think I'm very open minded when it comes to media, I love every kind of movie and, besides country, every genre of music imaginable and I am always on the search to find the best piece of media, whether it be watching fantastic classic movies like The Godfather and 12 Angry Men or listening to obscure but acclaimed albums like Ants From Up There and Sounds of Silver. What I hope to get out of this class is a new perspective of how to consume media, as well as an opportunity to worry for hours over some specific shot of my movie opening that's due date is weeks away instead of doing a much more urgent assignment that I really should be doing.
